Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 4, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information Food Plan (“we,” “us”) collects when you use our recipe library, meal planner, pantry tracker, and shared grocery list app, and how we use, share, and protect it.

Information We Collect

Account information: when you create an account, we collect the email address and password you sign up with (handled by our authentication provider, Supabase), plus the display name, avatar color, unit preference (metric/imperial), and language you set in your profile.

Household and group information: the name of any household/group you create or join, your role within it (Chef, Shopper, or Diner), and any invite links you generate.

Content you create in the app: recipes (titles, ingredients, steps, tags, notes), meal plan entries, day notes, household duties, grocery list items, pantry items (including expiry dates you enter), personal ingredient library entries, and recipe likes/saves.

Device information: if you enable notifications in a native install of the app, we store a device identifier needed to deliver them. We are not currently sending push notifications to any user — this is scaffolding for a feature that isn't turned on yet.

Standard technical data collected automatically by our hosting providers (see “How We Share Information” below) to operate the service securely, such as IP address, browser/device type, and request timestamps.

How We Use Your Information

To provide the core features of the app: your recipes, meal plans, grocery lists, and pantry tracking, shared with the other members of your household group the way the app is designed to work.

To operate your account: authenticate you, remember your preferences, and let you reset your password.

To keep the service secure and reliable, including reviewing reports of misuse (e.g. a reported recipe).

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell it. Food Plan has no third-party advertising or analytics trackers.

How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.

We use a small number of service providers to run the app, who process data on our behalf under their own security commitments: Supabase (database, authentication, and file storage) and Vercel (web hosting). Neither is permitted to use your data for their own purposes.

Other members of your household group can see the group content you create (recipes, meal plan entries, grocery/pantry items, day notes, duties) — that visibility is a core part of how shared meal planning works, and is scoped to your own group only. Recipes you choose to make public in the Discover feed are visible to any signed-in user.

We may disclose information if required by law, or to investigate abuse reports.

Data Retention & Account Deletion

We keep your account and content for as long as your account is active. If you'd like your account and associated data deleted or anonymized, contact us at fp.2020.fp.2020.fp@gmail.com and we'll process the request — self-service account deletion isn't built into the app yet.

If you leave a household group, your own personal data (profile, pantry, personal ingredient library) stays with your account; content you added to that group (recipes, meal plan entries) may remain visible to the group's other members, the same way it would if a household member moved out in real life.

Your Choices

You can review and update your profile name, unit preference, notification preferences, and language directly in the app's Profile/Settings screen.

You can request a copy of your data, or ask us to correct or delete it, by contacting us at fp.2020.fp.2020.fp@gmail.com.

Children's Privacy

Food Plan is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Security

Your data is protected by row-level security policies in our database, meaning your household's data is only reachable by members of that household — enforced at the database layer, not only in app code. All connections to the app use HTTPS encryption in transit.

International Use

Food Plan is available in English, Persian, French, and Arabic and is used by people in different countries. Your data may be processed on servers located outside your own country by the hosting providers listed above.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the app changes. We'll update the “Last updated” date above when we do; significant changes will be reflected here.
